Protect a site or selected content
Password Protected Pro includes site-wide password protection and includes controls for individual pages and posts, WooCommerce products and categories, custom post types and taxonomies, the WordPress login area, and selected sections within a page or post. Exclude specific pages, posts, or post types when they should stay public.
Partial content protection uses shortcodes to lock selected text, images, or downloads while leaving the rest visible. You can also restrict sections, blocks, or widgets in Elementor, the WordPress Block Editor, and Beaver Builder. These settings can be used for private previews, subscriber resources, client materials, or restricted product catalogs.
Set access rules for users
Create multiple passwords for various people or groups, allow selected WordPress user roles or IP addresses to access protected content, and generate bypass links for password-free entry. Links can be made for individual protected entries or for the whole site. Exclusions keep selected areas public, while expiration dates and usage limits control how long or how often a password works. Custom error messages can explain when a password has expired or reached its limit.
Visitors can request a password by submitting their email address. An administrator can review the request in the WordPress dashboard and approve or reject it. Approved visitors receive the password. You can also redirect visitors after successful access. When multiple passwords protect the whole site, each password can have its own internal destination URL.
Passwords can be imported or exported in bulk with a CSV file, including settings such as usage limits, expiration, and status.
Grant access after a form or purchase
With Gravity Forms, collect payments, registrations, lead information, contact details, or other form data before granting access. After a successful submission, the plugin can email a bypass link so visitors can open the protected content without entering a password.
The WooCommerce integration lets you sell access to a protected page or post through a simple or variable virtual product. After purchase, customers can receive access details by email. You can manage access with password usage limits and expiration settings, and tailor purchase confirmation messages.
Customize the protection screen and review activity
Customize the password screen with colors, styles, a background, and a logo, and preview changes live. Add text above or below the form, or customize messages shown when a password expires or reaches its usage limit. Google reCAPTCHA, hCaptcha, and Cloudflare Turnstile are available to help block bots at the password screen.
Activity logs record password attempts, including visitor IP address, browser information, date and time, and whether an attempt succeeded. Review the logs in WordPress and export entries to CSV. The limit login attempts feature lets you set a limit for failed attempts at the password screen.
Install and configure
Install and activate the add-on in WordPress, then configure its password options. Choose which content to protect, set passwords and access rules, and configure any exclusions or limits. Customize the protection screen and connect Gravity Forms or WooCommerce if needed. Once your protected content is in use, review access activity and adjust the rules as your workflow develops.
