Republish Old Posts Pro updates the publication date of an existing WordPress post to the current date. The post can return to the front page, move toward the top of archive listings, and reappear in RSS feeds. This can help visitors discover evergreen articles they have not seen. A new date may also affect how an article appears in date-based searches or how readers judge its freshness when sharing or linking to it; the date change itself does not revise the article.

Post selection and republishing schedule

The Pro edition adds controls for choosing which posts qualify and when they are republished. Set a minimum post age, the interval between republishing, and a randomness interval to vary timing. A post-level custom field can exclude an individual post from ever being republished.

Post, permalink, and plugin behavior

Republishing updates the existing post rather than creating a duplicate. Comments remain with the post, and the plugin does not alter post slugs. Depending on the options, its status may change as well. Other plugins that respond to changes in a post’s date or status can then produce unexpected results.

Do not use the plugin with date-based permalinks. Resetting a post date can affect a URL that includes that date, so review your permalink structure before using the plugin.

The plugin works with WPMU and is reported to work fine with Yoast SEO. No other SEO plugin conflicts are reported. Odd behavior has been noticed when All in One SEO and Republish Old Posts are both active, which may be relevant when troubleshooting simultaneous republishing.
