WordPress cloning across sites and networks
WP Site Cloner Pro extends NS Cloner for duplicating standard WordPress sites as well as sites in a Multisite installation. The Single Site capability handles standard sites outside Multisite. Teleport can copy a subsite to a remote network or move an entire multisite network.
Developers, agencies, designers, platform owners, and organizations can use a configured website as a starting point for staging, testing, regional, client, member, school, chapter, or affiliate sites.
What a local Multisite clone includes
For existing Multisite sites, NS Cloner can copy posts, pages, custom post types, taxonomies, comments, uploaded media, menus, widgets, theme settings, plugin settings, and WordPress settings. It updates URLs and other background references so the destination is configured as a separate copy. The cloning process supports both subdomain and subdirectory Multisite networks.
Choose what the clone carries over
Search & Replace runs custom search and replace operations on cloned content, which can update references to match the new website or environment. Table Manager lets you select which database tables are cloned. Users Cloning lets you copy users and permissions or create new users for cloned sites.
Presets save common cloning settings for repeated workflows. They let a team reuse a familiar configuration when creating similar sites or running recurring cloning tasks.
Use the command line
The WP-CLI Addon supports copying sites from the command line. This suits workflows that use developer tools or an existing command-line process instead of relying only on the WordPress dashboard.
Prepare, configure, and review
- Prepare the source site with the content, settings, media, and configuration to reuse.
- Choose a cloning method, such as single-site, Multisite, remote, or WP-CLI cloning.
- Select any search and replace rules, database tables, visitor options, or saved preset settings.
- Start the clone, then review the resulting site and its updated references.
For local Multisite cloning, go to Network Admin, select the source subsite, enter the new site URL and title, and start the clone. The process runs in the background with live progress and can continue if you close the browser tab. Logging and validation functions help with troubleshooting and preemptive issue detection.
Install and configure
Install WP Site Cloner Pro in the WordPress environment where you manage your sites. Open the available cloning workflow from the relevant administration tools, then configure the source, destination, and Pro options before starting the duplication.
