Semrush Pro connects SEO Writing Assistant with the WordPress editing workflow. Writers and editors can review a page or post as they draft or revise it, using real-time readability and SEO recommendations based on high-performing content in Google search results. The checks can be used on your own copy or another writer’s work before publication.

Checks in the editor

• Readability: Review the Flesch-Kincaid score to assess how easy the text is to read and identify possible improvements.
• Recommended keywords: See semantically related keyword suggestions that may help strengthen search visibility.
• Tone of voice: Check whether the writing stays smooth and consistent in tone.
• Plagiarism check: Review submitted writing for originality and help avoid potential penalties.
• Rephraser: Rework selected passages to improve quality, adapt copy for various channels or get past writer’s block.
• Overall score: Assess the content’s SEO potential using key on-page factors.

What account limits apply

Using the writing recommendations requires a Semrush account and specified target keywords. A Free or Pro account can create one recommendation set tied to a document for its lifetime. Higher-tier accounts have different keyword budgets and access to the Semrush Content Marketing Platform.

Install and connect the assistant

1. Download the plugin as a ZIP file.
2. Sign in to the WordPress administration area, open Plugins, and choose Add New.
3. Choose Upload Plugin, select the ZIP file and install it.
4. Activate the add-on from the installed add-ons list if it was not activated automatically.
5. Open the page or post you want to optimize and select Connect SEO Content Template. Sign in to your Semrush account to use the recommendations.

Text analysis and telemetry

The plugin uses third-party code from Semrush SEO Writing Assistant, which the WordPress team has not reviewed. Text submitted for analysis is sent to the Semrush API and may also be stored for statistical analysis. Telemetry data is collected through Google Analytics.
