PrintFriendly Pro Subscription is the paid, ad-free option for Print, PDF & Email by PrintFriendly. For a subscribed domain, it removes ads from the print, PDF, and email confirmation window. The extension detects page content automatically, so publishers do not need a separate print.css file. PrintFriendly describes Pro as GDPR compliant; its product information says the free version is not currently compliant because of cookie consent requirements.

Prepare content for printing or sharing

Visitors can print page content, create a PDF, or send it by email. Before printing or making a PDF, they can edit a preview by changing text and picture sizes or deleting material they do not need. This helps them create a more focused document and may save paper and ink. PDFs can include clickable links and use A4 or Letter paper sizes.

The plugin works on HTTP and HTTPS websites, including password-protected websites. It is compatible with Social Snap, Social Pug, NovaShare, and Shareaholic.

Set the presentation for your website

Publishers can enable or disable print, PDF, and email options, select a button style, or use custom text with an image or button. They can add headers and footers to print and PDF outputs, include a copyright notice, and apply their own CSS to control the output. A JavaScript or non-JavaScript option is available.

Language and service data

The interface detects the visitor’s browser language and can display in 30 languages, including English, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Dutch, Portuguese, Swedish, Turkish, Hebrew, Korean, and Simplified and Traditional Chinese.

PDFs are generated on the service’s server. Page content is sent or stored to generate a PDF, which is temporarily stored so the visitor can download it and then permanently deleted. With the non-JavaScript option, the preview is generated on the server, cached for a few minutes, and then deleted.

Email sharing is sent by the service’s server. The email address and content are stored to send the message; after it has been sent and found not to be from a spammer, they are permanently deleted. The service says it does not sell data or share it unless compelled by law. It also creates and deletes server log files, and may use non-personally identifying information such as browser type, language, referrer, and date and time to analyze service use.

Installation and setup

Install and activate Print, PDF & Email by PrintFriendly on your WordPress site, then configure the print, PDF, email, display, and customization options. Select the Pro subscription for the domain to remove confirmation-window ads, then review the output on your site. Choose the button presentation, add any headers or footers, apply CSS if needed, and choose the JavaScript or non-JavaScript option.
