Browse and edit files
Use the file tree, context menu, custom root path, search, and folder-size calculation to find and organize files. The manager works with creating, copying, moving, duplicating, previewing, downloading, uploading, archiving, extracting, and deleting files or folders. Batch downloads and uploads, ZIP operations, and drag-and-drop uploads are also available. File operations use the WordPress Filesystem API.
Recover drafts and compare changes
Auto Save periodically writes your work to a separate draft file at an interval you choose, leaving the original file unchanged. If you close the editing page before saving manually, the draft can help recover your work. Auto Saved Quick Diff compares the draft with the current file and lets you choose whether to restore the draft or keep the current version. A full-screen toggle gives the editor more space.
Choose broader file and configuration access
With File Manager Advanced Mode enabled, files and folders beyond the usual add-on and theme locations are available for editing, including WordPress core files and wp-config.php. The Config Manager displays constants defined in wp-config.php and can add, update, or remove them while checking for duplicates.
Work with pictures and database tables
The Advanced Image Editor can resize and crop images, apply filters, add frames or corners, and place text, stickers, patterns, or gradients. The Database Manager can display and create tables, add, update, or delete rows, change table structure, and update column indexes.
Use the editor workflow
WPIDE includes line numbers, find and replace, syntax highlighting, matching-parenthesis highlighting, automatic indentation, code folding, keyboard commands, and tabs for editing multiple files. WordPress and PHP autocomplete, PHP parsing and validation, backups before saving, and a File Recovery Wizard support code editing. An image gallery and video or audio player let you preview supported media in the workspace.
Start from the file tree or search, then open files in editor tabs as needed. Use Advanced Mode, configuration controls, image editing, and database tools for the tasks that call for them, and review changes before applying them.
