Asset CleanUp Pro
WordPress themes and extensions may load stylesheets and scripts on pages that do not use them. Asset CleanUp Pro lets you inspect those resources and create rules to unload what is unnecessary. Manage assets from the Dashboard, a post or page edit screen, or the front-end view. Rules can target the homepage, individual posts and pages, custom post types, and other supported contexts.
Review what each page loads
WordPress themes and extensions may load stylesheets and scripts on pages that do not use them. Asset CleanUp Pro lets you inspect those resources and create rules to unload what is unnecessary. Manage assets from the Dashboard, a post or page edit screen, or the front-end view. Rules can target the homepage, individual posts and pages, custom post types, and other supported contexts.
Use Test Mode to check changes as a logged-in administrator before they affect users. The Dashboard Overview gathers unload rules, exceptions, asset attributes, page options, and leftover entries for review.
Choose which assets and plugins execute
Pro's Plugins Manager can prevent entire plugins from running on selected frontend or Dashboard pages. This goes beyond removing a add-on's CSS and JavaScript: when a add-on is not needed in that context, preventing it from running can reduce PHP work and database queries. Pro also handles hardcoded assets and adds broader conditional rules, device-specific rules, and controls for JavaScript attributes and placement.
For supported CSS and JavaScript, you can set unload rules, minify and combine files and supported inline code, or preload selected files for earlier discovery. Asset CleanUp Pro also lets you add, edit, and remove your own Critical CSS for supported page contexts. It organizes manual CSS by context; it does not generate Critical CSS automatically.
Manage fonts, images, and WordPress output
For Google Fonts, you can combine, preload, load asynchronously, or remove requests, with font-display and preconnect controls. Local font files can also be preloaded. Image rules can set fetchpriority, loading, and decoding attributes using simple matching or regular expressions, and lazy-load images where appropriate.
Cleanup options can remove Emojis, Dashicons for guests, Comment Reply, selected discovery links, metadata, and oEmbed resources from the document head. You can disable RSS feed links or feeds, restrict or disable XML-RPC when it is not needed, and strip supported HTML comments with exceptions where required.
Test a change before applying it to visitors
- Install Asset CleanUp Pro, open its Dashboard, and start with Getting Started.
- Enable Test Mode, then open CSS & JS Manager and select a page to review.
- Begin with an asset that is clearly unnecessary on that page, create an unload rule, and save it.
- Test the page on desktop and mobile. Check forms, menus, popups, sliders, and other interactive components.
- Clear the active page, server, and CDN caches. Disable Test Mode only after the page works correctly, then verify it as a logged-out visitor.
Asset CleanUp controls what WordPress outputs; it does not provide page caching. A page cache, server cache, or CDN can store and deliver the resulting page. After changing rules, clear every active cache layer, and avoid enabling the same minify or combine feature in multiple optimization plugins. Reducing requests, page weight, browser work, PHP work, or database queries depends on which resources and plugins your pages use.
