Choose which errors to report

The plugin hooks into PHP’s shutdown function and sends notifications just before a page stops loading. A 500 Internal Server Error can still trigger PHP shutdown actions. If the website is completely offline, error detection and notification work in most cases.

Set the PHP error levels that should generate notifications. To exclude particular errors, use the fen_ignore_error filter. Its error data includes the PHP error code (type), message, file path (file), and line number (line), so an exclusion can match details of a recorded error.

Pro alerts, logs, and integrations

Pro includes Slack notifications, logging of recorded errors, multisite support, out-of-memory handling, the option to conceal plugin settings, and controls to pause individual notifications. Email remains available for error alerts.

Integrations with Gravity Forms, WooCommerce, WPForms, WP Fusion, and WP Mail SMTP can send notifications when errors are logged in those add-ons. This lets you include errors from supported extensions in your reporting workflow.

Manage settings with WP-CLI

Use WP-CLI to inspect or update plugin settings. For example, get_option can check whether Slack notifications are enabled, while update_option can change the notification email address. You can apply an option update across multiple sites by passing a site list through xargs. For settings stored as arrays, such as error levels or selected plugins, provide JSON-formatted values.

Set up notifications

Install and activate the plugin, then open Settings → Fatal Error Notify to configure the notification email address, error levels, and notification options. Set up Slack, multisite options, or supported integrations as needed. WP-CLI is available for command-line settings management.
