Video and audio players for WordPress
Lean Player Pro manages video players, audio players and playlists in one WordPress admin area. Sources include YouTube, YouTube Shorts, Vimeo and HTML5 video, along with audio files and live streams. Upload files through the media library or use a direct URL or CDN link.
- Video: YouTube, YouTube Shorts, Vimeo and HTML5 files in MP4, WebM or OGG. Vertical video fits the screen without stretching or distortion.
- Audio: MP3, OGG, WAV, M4A, AAC and FLAC files. OPUS audio works from a direct URL or CDN link, but cannot be uploaded through the WordPress media library.
- Live audio: Icecast, Shoutcast and other radio streams that provide a direct stream URL. On an HTTPS website, the stream URL must also use HTTPS because browsers block plain HTTP audio.
Configure and embed players
Set default behavior in Global Player Settings, then change settings for individual players as needed. Player categories help organize a collection. The admin list shows each player's type, source, autoplay status and shortcode. Its preview updates as you edit, without requiring a save.
Publish a player or playlist with a shortcode, an Elementor widget, the Block Editor or the Classic Editor. Elementor has separate video, audio and playlist widgets. The video and audio widgets also support saved players and source overrides, including dynamic tags for links stored in custom fields.
Playback and playlist controls
Media Preload lets you load basic information only, wait until a user presses play, or begin loading immediately. Other playback settings include autoplay, volume, looping, playback speed and keyboard shortcuts. Pro includes settings such as pausing other players when one starts, setting a skip interval and choosing elapsed or countdown time display.
Create video or audio playlists from saved players. Choose the panel position and list appearance, with options such as thumbnails, a light or dark skin and automatic playback of the next track. Pro adds playlist layouts and styling options, automatic thumbnails and durations, and the option to start at a selected entry.
Timestamp links and access settings
Add a timestamp shortcode where a link should appear in your post content: [lean_timestamp time="1:30"]Jump to intro[/lean_timestamp]. Selecting it seeks the player to that time and starts playback without reloading the page.
Pro access settings can limit a saved player or playlist to everyone, logged-in customers with optional role restrictions, logged-out users, members of a Paid Memberships Pro or MemberPress level, or visitors with a password. You can also set access per playlist episode. Lean Player keeps the media link out of the page for visitors without access, but does not protect the media file itself; anyone with its direct address can still open it.
Getting started
Create a player or playlist in the WordPress admin, pick its source and playback settings, and review the live preview. Copy its shortcode into a post or page, or select it in an Elementor widget. Add timestamp shortcodes in your content wherever visitors should be able to jump to a moment in the media.
