Search & Filter Pro lets visitors search WordPress content with more control than the standard search box provides. Build forms around categories, tags, custom taxonomies, post types, dates, authors, custom fields, and post meta. You can also use forms to filter posts and pages without a traditional search box.

Prepare fields for the content

Choose controls that fit each field: dropdowns, checkboxes, radio buttons, multiselects, or comboboxes. Custom fields and post meta support these input types. A jQuery range slider can handle numeric ranges, date pickers narrow results by date, and selects or multiselects can use auto-complete comboboxes.

For example, a property site can combine taxonomies, dates, custom fields, and range controls to narrow listings. A news or review website can offer filters for categories, tags, authors, or post types.

Set result behavior

Enable AJAX results so visitors can update filtered content without a full page reload. Add an Order Results field to let them sort by meta value, post ID, author, title, name, date, modified date, parent ID, random order, comment count, or menu order. Custom templates control how results are presented.

Create and place a form

1. Install Search & Filter Pro in WordPress.
2. Use the drag-and-drop editor to make a form and organize its fields.
3. Select the fields and input types, then configure result ordering and a custom template if needed.
4. Place the form in a theme or post with a shortcode or widget.
