Choose currencies for browsing and checkout

FOX Professional adds unlimited currencies to a WooCommerce store. Shoppers can choose the currency used to display product prices. When the multiple-currency checkout option is enabled, they can pay in their selected currency as well.

To place the switcher, add it to a widgetized area or insert the [woocs] shortcode where clients can find it, including in a top menu. Choose a drop-down, flags, or a side switcher, and assign flags to currencies. Smart Designer offers controls for customizing drop-down designs. Ajax-enabled shortcodes and widgets are also available for a currency converter and currency rates.

Configure rates and price display

Rates can come from more than seven currency aggregators or be entered manually. Automatic updates can execute hourly, twice daily, daily, weekly, monthly, or every 5, 15, 30, or 45 minutes. Scheduled updates can be disabled for manually maintained rates, and email notices about rate changes are optional.

Set decimal precision, select a standard or custom money sign, and position the sign for each currency. Cents can be shown or hidden, and currencies can use their own decimal counts and price formats. Custom symbols are supported, including for currencies that do not represent real-world money. The woocs_price_thousand_sep and woocs_price_decimal_sep hooks allow price separators to follow a currency or business rule.

Apply store rules

FOX Professional includes fixed-price and amount rules, prices based on visitor role or country, GeoIP rules, and payment rules. GeoIP can detect a visitor's local currency, and a welcome currency can set the prices visitors see on their first visit. Currencies can also be marked public or private; private currencies do not appear in switchers and cannot be selected through a currency link.

Additional controls include approximate prices based on a visitor's GeoIP currency when rate data is available. This display does not apply with fixed-price or GeoIP pricing rules. Currency selection can be stored using sessions, transients, Memcached, or Redis. The extension also includes an API and REST API for stores that need developer controls.

Checkout and compatible tools

With selected-currency checkout enabled, orders are kept in the currency the customer paid in. Payment rules can show or conceal payment gateways according to the current currency. The extension lists compatibility with WooCommerce product filters, product feed generators, booking and rental software, and points and rewards software. Its publisher reports 95% compatibility with payment gateways in multi-currency mode.

Set up the switcher

Install and activate FOX Professional, then open its settings to add currencies, configure rates and formats, and set any pricing or payment rules. Add a widget or place the [woocs] shortcode where the switcher should appear. Enable the multiple-currency checkout option if customers should be able to pay in their selected currency.
