Dashboard areas and actions
Depending on its configured permissions, the Admin role can conceal these menus and dashboard areas, or disable these controls:
- Hide the WordPress Settings menu.
- Hide the WordPress Plugins menu.
- Hide the WordPress Tools menu.
- Hide the WordPress Users menu.
- Hide the Appearance > Editor tab.
- Disable the theme installation button.
- Disable theme-switching buttons.
- Disable the WordPress Core Updates button.
These settings limit access to selected configuration areas and actions, such as installing or switching themes.
Permissions for supported add-ons
Pro adds controls for selected third-party plugins. The available restrictions and access settings include:
- Advanced Custom Fields: Hide the ACF menu and settings, including definitions, rules, and fields.
- Custom Post Types: Restrict the ability to create Custom Post Types.
- Contact Form 7: Restrict creating, deleting, and editing forms while allowing the Admin role to view submissions.
- Draw Attention: Restrict the ability to add Draw Attention images.
- Easy Digital Downloads: Select whether the Admin role can manage products, customer payments, reports and sales data, and settings.
- Five Star Business Profile and Scheme: Hide business profile settings.
- Gravity Forms: Restrict creating, deleting, and previewing forms while allowing selected editing and submission access.
Assign and adjust access
Install Simple Client Dashboard on the client’s WordPress website. The Admin role then becomes available with little to no setup required. Assign it to the client or webmaster, review its permissions in the editing interface, and configure Pro controls for supported third-party plugins.
Freelancers, agencies, and webmasters can use this setup to hand over day-to-day site management while limiting access to selected administrative functions. Adjust the permissions as the client’s responsibilities change.
