Author boxes for WordPress publishing

Starbox Pro adds visual author boxes to WordPress content, giving readers a way to see who wrote an article and find that author's profiles or other work. Choose whether boxes appear above or below content, and whether they display on posts, pages, or both. Each author can have an individual placement and theme, or use the default theme.

Author profiles and social links

Author profiles can include a name, job title, company with a link, biography, and picture. Authors can upload an image instead of using Gravatar. The boxes can link to an author's articles, show that author's latest posts, and appear on the plugin's author pages. You can conceal boxes for selected authors or suppress another author box on the page to avoid duplicates.

Social profile links are clickable, and each author can have a various set of profiles. The feature list includes Google Authorship and Facebook Authorship options; authors add their Google and Facebook account details to their profiles for those details to appear. The technical feature list also mentions HTML5 and Google Microformats, including vCard, for author information.

Shortcodes for specific displays

Add [starbox] to post content or a WordPress widget to display an author box. A shortcode can specify an author, custom description, and theme, such as [starbox id="login_name" desc="custom description" theme="business"]. To show multiple authors together, provide comma-separated usernames or author IDs, for example [starbox id="john,david"] or [starbox id="1,2,3"].

Set up author profiles and social accounts, choose the placement and theme, then select posts, pages, or both as display locations. Configuration is intended to work without coding or complicated menus.

Compatibility: The current directory listing says Starbox has not been tested with the latest three major WordPress releases and may have compatibility issues with newer versions.
