Maps connected to WordPress content

CodePeople Post Map for Google Maps can show locations related to posts. On a single post, a map can show that post’s geolocation and, optionally, recent posts from related categories. In templates, it can mark posts on the page and highlight a related post when a visitor hovers over its marker.

Premium: point sources and map utilities

Choose points from specific posts, categories, tags, or all posts. Post search can use location information and descriptions, and a post or page can have multiple associated points. Maps can be linked to any public post type, with a map for each post on non-singular pages.

  • Draw routes with travel-mode options and add shapes.
  • Add a place search box, or create a legend from categories, tags, or taxonomies to control point visibility.
  • Link to directions, Google Maps, or Street View.
  • Show multiple maps on a post or page using the same points, add maps as sidebar widgets, and group markers into clusters.
  • Display the visitor’s location and refresh it at intervals.
  • Create points from picture metadata or WordPress App geolocation.
  • Export or import points as CSV or KML, and load KML layers from documents.

Map display controls

Settings cover map width and height, margins, alignment, map type, language, dragging, controls, zoom, and the number of points shown. Choose roadmap, satellite, terrain, or hybrid views. Dynamic zoom can fit all points in view; when it is disabled, set a fixed zoom value.

Show or conceal information bubbles, open one by default, or display the map directly or as an icon in posts and pages. If a point has no associated image, its information window can show the post’s featured image. Premium and Developer also support routes, grouped markers, and visitor location.

Developer: contact forms for map points

Developer includes the Premium functions and adds contact forms linked to map points. Form submissions can trigger notification emails. Points can have unique or global email addresses, and point descriptions can use Contact Form 7 shortcodes. Images associated with points can also be used as map icons.

Shortcodes and setup

Shortcode attributes can select points by category, multiple categories, or all points. You can also reference a configured map by its map ID. Attributes can set dimensions, alignment, zoom, map type, language, and other display options. Install the selected edition in WordPress, configure map settings and point locations, then add maps to posts, pages, templates, widgets, or other supported WordPress locations with the shortcode or content association settings. Configure filters, routes, clusters, imports, widgets, or Developer contact-form options as needed.
