Thumbnail settings control the map preview
Set the map width, height, and zoom level, then choose a road, satellite, terrain, or hybrid map. PRO also supports using a custom map picture in place of a standard map. Choose from available color schemes or make a custom Google map style. Pin controls include type, color, size, label, and icon; PRO includes a library of more than 1,500 pins and lets you use an image of your choice as a pin icon.
Lightbox settings shape the interactive view
Configure the thumbnail link to open a lightbox, go to a custom URL, replace the thumbnail with an interactive map, show the interactive map immediately, or disable the image link. PRO adds fullscreen show and map modes for directions, search, view, and Google Street View. Set lightbox dimensions, which adjust for smaller screens, and choose from additional skins. Other controls include closing the lightbox by clicking the overlay or pressing Escape, a close button, an optional map title, map language, and text above or below the map.
Multiple pins organize locations on one map
Add unlimited pins with custom markers and descriptions. Choose whether each pin appears on the thumbnail, the interactive map, or both. When selected, a pin can open a description bubble, link to a URL in the same or a new tab, or do nothing. PRO delivers clustering and filtering for maps with multiple pins.
Use the [gmw id="#"] shortcode to place a configured map in a page, post, or custom post type. PRO also includes more than 50 additional features and options, including export, import, widget cloning, Google Analytics integration, and premium support.
Set up the widget and API key
In WordPress, open Appearance > Widgets and add Maps Widget for Google Maps to a sidebar. A Google Maps API key is required for maps to work. To place a map in a page or post, copy its shortcode and paste it into the content area.
