WordPress backup and migration controls

Prime Mover PRO extends the Prime Mover workflow for single-site and multisite WordPress installations. Use the WordPress administration area to make, manage, transfer, and restore packages for moves between hosts, servers, domains, local environments, and live environments.

Prepare a package

Schedule automatic backups for single-site or multisite installations. Before creating a backup or migration package, adjust its parameters and choose any supported exclusions that fit the task.

• Exclude plugins, including network-activated add-ons on multisite installations, files in the uploads directory, or unused database tables created by inactive plugins.
• Encrypt the database, media directory, add-on files, and theme files inside a backup or migration package.
• Set the backup location outside the WordPress public directory.
• Work with non-UTF8 and standard UTF8 database character sets, including utf8mb4.

Package storage and transfer

Transfer packages directly between sites. You can also export and restore packages from Dropbox, or save packages to and restore them from Google Drive.

Supported migration routes

• Move a single-site installation to another single-site server.
• Move a single site into an existing multisite subsite.
• Migrate a multisite subsite to another multisite subsite or to a single-site installation.
• Export and restore a multisite main site.

Multisite controls include creating a subsite with a specific blog ID and disabling network maintenance so that only the affected subsite enters maintenance mode. Prime Mover also supports legacy multisites.

Restoration and configuration

Use the restoration options and the settings screen to manage basic and advanced configurations. Migration parameters let you adjust backup or migration packages for the task.

Installation and requirements

Install and activate Prime Mover PRO in WordPress, then use its administration screens to create, manage, transfer, or restore packages. Supported environments include Nginx, Apache, LiteSpeed, Microsoft IIS, and localhost. The source lists PHP 5.6 to 8.5+ support; the Google Drive feature requires PHP 7.4 or later.
