W3 Total Cache Pro is the paid performance edition of W3 Total Cache. It combines page, object, database, fragment, feed, and browser caching. Depending on the cache type and configuration, it can cache pages, posts, feeds, search results, database objects, and selected dynamic content in memory or on disk, with CDN delivery for supported content.
Available caching methods include local disk, Redis, Memcached, APC, APCu, eAccelerator, XCache, and WinCache. The extension also supports caching REST API calls for headless WordPress websites.
Control what the browser loads
Minification settings cover HTML, CSS, JavaScript, posts, pages, and RSS feeds. Inline, embedded, and third-party CSS and JavaScript can be minified, with automated asset updates. JavaScript groups can be arranged by template and embed location, and non-blocking embedding helps control script placement.
Pro asset controls can remove unused CSS or JavaScript documents, eliminate render-blocking CSS, delay non-essential scripts, and preload requests. Lazy loading defers offscreen pictures and can wait to load Google Maps until they are visible.
Connect delivery and hosting settings
CDN management covers the WordPress Media Library, theme files, and WordPress itself. Full Site Delivery can serve an entire site through a CDN. The Image Converter extension converts common picture formats to WebP or AVIF during upload or on demand. An extension framework delivers additional customization options, including Cloudflare and WPML integrations; the WPML extension supports multilingual sites.
W3 Total Cache Pro is designed for shared hosting, virtual private servers, dedicated servers, and server clusters. It supports SSL/TLS, mobile caching by referrer or user-agent group, Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP), and reverse proxies through Nginx or Varnish. WP-CLI commands support cache purging and query-string updates. Caching statistics and purge logs provide information for reviewing cache activity, and the broader performance toolkit includes security functions.
Configure and review changes
Install and activate W3 Total Cache Pro in WordPress, then use its settings to configure caching, minification, CDN delivery, image conversion, and other Pro functions for your hosting environment and website structure. Test each major setting after enabling it. Use the available statistics and cache-purging tools to review cache activity and apply changes.
