WP DSGVO Tools Premium is the paid edition of a WordPress privacy toolkit focused on Germany and Austria. It can also be used in other EU countries and third countries. Setup starts by selecting the services a website uses, entering the relevant details and configuring the privacy components.

Consent and service controls

The extension can make cookie popups and notices, display mandatory information, and control services and embedded content. Consent options cover opt-in, opt-out and cancellation management. Administrators can set consent validity and a waiting period before requesting consent again.

The consent interface is designed to avoid prompts based on illegal nudging or psychological tricks. The plugin requires administrator configuration; installation alone does not establish GDPR conformity, which also depends on other aspects of the website.

The plugin can generate data protection information and create an imprint. Add the imprint through page selection or a shortcode. The legal texts were written by a law firm specializing in IT, internet and data protection law. Sworn and certified interpreters produced the translations. The plugin is officially certified for WPML and also works with Polylang and WPGlobus.

Related privacy functions

The broader WP DSGVO Tools capability set includes support for Google Analytics, Matomo and WP Statistics. It also includes a right-to-be-forgotten function with time management, plus automated directory queries and deletion requests with PDF and JSON output.

Licensing and compatibility

WP DSGVO Tools Premium is a paid edition, but Premium licenses are no longer being continued. The publisher says no new capabilities or functions are being added to WP DSGVO Tools and recommends LegalWeb Cloud as its newer premium plugin.

The plugin listing says it has not been tested with the latest three major WordPress releases. It may no longer be maintained or supported, and compatibility issues may arise with newer WordPress versions.

Basic setup

Add the plugin to a WordPress website and activate it. Select the services in use, complete the relevant fields, then configure the cookie, consent, privacy and imprint settings. Choose a page or use a shortcode to integrate the imprint. Review the displayed information and consent behavior on the site.
