Configure events for visitor interactions

WP Google Analytics Events Pro lets you set up Google Analytics events for actions visitors take on a WordPress website. It reduces the need to write JavaScript for each interaction. Use events to set goals, compare calls to action, follow in-page navigation and check how many visitors reach the end of an article.

Interactions you can measure

Examples include clicks on links and buttons, scrolls, contact form submissions, email and telephone links, PDF downloads, banners and videos. A scroll event can mark when a visitor reaches a pricing table. The Pro edition adds one-click link tracking and placeholders for additional event information.

Pro media and team features

• Track self-hosted audio and video.
• Include YouTube and Vimeo interactions in event tracking.
• Use plugin management permissions for team administration.
• Get access to the Pro support team.

Analytics delivery and reports

The add-on works with Google Tag Manager through the data layer, extending the interaction tracking available in Google Tag Manager out of the box. Events may appear almost immediately in the Google Analytics real-time dashboard. Full event reports can take up to 24 hours to appear under Behavior and Events.

Setup and compatibility

Install the Pro plugin in WordPress. Activate it, open WP Google Analytics Settings and enter your Google Analytics account identifier. Then configure scroll and click events. Choose any other applicable tracking options, including advanced mode, media, email, telephone and PDF downloads. If you use Google Tag Manager, follow the data layer instructions and verify events in Google Analytics.

WP Google Analytics Events is not compatible with Google Analytics GA4.
