Set up the library view
Visitors can search documents, sort table columns, filter by category, and download files. Show every document or narrow a library by category or status. Instant AJAX search helps visitors locate files, while the search-on-click option filters a library when they choose a category.
Searchable, sortable tables can display the file name, title, picture, content, date, categories, download button, file size, file type, excerpt, status, last modified date, and author. Column headings can be renamed to match your organization’s terminology. Essentials and Advanced plans also provide grid layout options. Collapsible folders can group documents into sections or categories. Paid features support custom fields and custom taxonomies.
Manage files from different sources
For larger collections, use drag-and-drop uploads, CSV import, or import files from the Media Library. Document Library Pro adds a Documents section to the Media Library to help manage document files separately from images and other media.
Paid plans can include documents hosted on services such as Dropbox, Google Drive, and Office 365, alongside files stored in the Media Library. The extension can also make an individual page for each document, with details such as its filename and summary description shown before download.
Set library access
Protect private libraries with a password or restrict access to specific roles or user accounts. Access can be applied globally or organized by category and individual library, so one WordPress site can include both public and restricted documents.
Install and place a library
- Install the paid document library extension on your WordPress site.
- Add documents, file information, and the corresponding uploads, or import files using the available bulk utilities.
- Configure the table or grid layout, columns, search behavior, categories, and access options.
- Use the built-in Document Library page or place a library anywhere on the site with the [doc_library] shortcode.
Shortcode options can override global settings, allowing each library to use its own display choices.
