Configure how WordPress sends email

WordPress normally sends outgoing email through PHP mail(). Easy WP SMTP Pro routes messages from WordPress and other extensions through an authenticated SMTP connection or supported transactional mailer. The setup wizard guides you through configuring a connection. For Gmail and Google accounts, sign in and authorize the extension to send messages on your behalf. A configured route can help address problems with a website's default mail setup.

Available mailer options include:

  • SendLayer, Mailgun, Mailjet, SendGrid, Brevo, SMTP.com, Postmark, SparkPost, and SMTP2GO
  • Amazon SES, Gmail, Google Mail, Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Outlook, and Zoho Mail, identified as Pro mailer options
  • Other SMTP, for configuring another SMTP server with its host, port, username, password, and encryption options

Review email entries and activity

Email Logging keeps a record of messages sent from the website and can store attachments. Search or filter logs, then resend or forward an individual message, or resend multiple messages in bulk. Logs can be exported to CSV, EML, or Excel, and emails can be printed or exported to PDF for archiving.

Open and click tracking records engagement with messages. Email Reports summarize sent and failed messages, opens, and clicks, with activity grouped by subject line. The dashboard widget and weekly email summary provide additional views of email activity.

Investigate failures and manage sending

Debug Events records failed sending attempts, the reported error, and which add-on sent the message. Enable Debug Email Sending to log all attempts when a broader record is useful. Email Alerts can notify you of sending failures by email, Slack, Microsoft Teams, Discord, SMS, or custom webhooks. A Backup Connection delivers a secondary route if the primary connection fails.

Smart Conditional Routing lets you direct different email types through different mailers using filters such as subject, message content, sender or recipient address, and the plugin that generated the email. Rate Limiting sets sending limits by minute, hour, day, week, or month and manages the queue to stay within provider limits. Optimized Email Sending queues messages for background processing when server resources are available.

Configure a site or multisite network

Install Easy WP SMTP, select a supported mailer or Other SMTP, and follow the setup wizard. Authorize the selected account when required, then configure logging, alerts, debugging, routing, or a backup connection for your workflow. On WordPress Multisite, network administrators can manage settings across subsites and review their logs, reports, debug events, and exports from a central dashboard.
