Place documents with related content

PDF Embed Block Pro adds document viewers to WordPress posts and pages. Insert a viewer with the Gutenberg block editor or use a shortcode. PDF presentation uses the Adobe PDF Viewer API, which is intended to provide a consistent viewing experience across modern browsers.

The Pro edition includes the features available in the free version, along with additional document types, viewer blocks, layouts, and presentation controls. Supported viewers include PDFs, Word and Excel files, Google Docs, Google Slides, and more. Different viewer styles let you choose how a file appears within the page.

Choose files and viewer styles

Use a viewer to place course reading materials in a lesson, display a report alongside its explanation, or include a business document, form, presentation, or spreadsheet in a page. Gutenberg keeps placement in the regular block editing process; shortcode embedding is another option.

Set the viewing area

Responsive width control adjusts the viewer to the surrounding page. Height control is available when using Sized Container mode. Padding and margin set the space around the viewer, while border and shadow settings define its edge and separation from the page background. Modern layouts provide more ways to present files within posts and pages.

Configure viewer controls

Toolbar settings control whether Download PDF, Print PDF, and Fullscreen Mode are shown. A site-wide settings profile can define default viewer settings, and each block can be configured from the right-side settings sidebar in Gutenberg. The file name can display automatically or be edited to label the embedded document.

Set up an embedded document

  1. Install the PDF Embed Block extension in WordPress.
  2. Open a post or page in the Gutenberg editor.
  3. Add the document viewer block from the Widgets block category.
  4. Upload or select the document, then configure its settings in the right-side sidebar.
  5. Adjust the viewer style, dimensions, spacing, borders, shadows, and toolbar controls as needed.
  6. Publish or update the page to display the embedded document.
