Choose where ads and code appear

Ad Inserter Pro controls where configured advertising and other code is inserted on a WordPress site. It supports Google AdSense, Google Ad Manager, Media.net, Infolinks and rotating banners. You can also insert opt-in forms, analytics and tracking code, pictures, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, and raw HTTP response header lines.

Automatic placements can go before or after posts, content, paragraphs, images, comments and excerpts. Target random or multiple paragraphs, or insert between posts, excerpts or comments. For a specific layout, place code near an HTML element using CSS selectors or the visual element selector. Other positions include relative locations in posts, custom WordPress hooks, feeds, and Ajax, RSS or REST requests. Add code in the head, after the opening body tag or in the footer, and use different ad codes on AMP pages.

Set up blocks for the website layout

Place blocks manually with Gutenberg blocks, widgets, shortcodes or PHP function calls. Contextual placements can use post custom fields, titles, tags and categories. Disable ads on selected posts or pages, and avoid placing ads near images or headings. Custom wrapping classes, labels, alignments and styles control how blocks appear. Sticky widgets can keep a sidebar in place while a user scrolls.

The code editor includes syntax highlighting and a preview with a visual CSS editor. A visual advert editor, banner and placeholder generator, and AdSense code generator help prepare block content. Ad Inserter can also detect, conceal or replace blank AdSense blocks and work with shortcodes from other add-ons.

Control audience and ad delivery

Pro geotargeting uses internal or MaxMind databases and supports country, state, region and city targeting, including with caching. You can blacklist or whitelist IP addresses, countries and cities. Other delivery controls include date and time scheduling with a fallback, server-side or client-side ad rotation, and frequency caps for impressions or clicks. A/B testing can compare adverts and options; click fraud protection can use a reCAPTCHA v3 score check to hide ads from invalid traffic.

Delay ad scripts until a visitor interacts with the site, or load them when the page is scrolled. Sticky ads can include a close button and use fade, slide, turn, flip or zoom animations. Animation triggers can follow scroll distance or an HTML element becoming visible. Other formats include sticky sidebars, floating slide-in banners, background and parallax ads, and a sticky ad bar. Ad blocking detection can show a popup or redirect, while anti-ad-blocking options can replace ads or protect content. Consent checks can control when ad code is inserted, including showing ads after GDPR consent is given.

Review impressions and clicks

Impression and click statistics are available for JavaScript adverts, including Google AdSense. Pro can prepare statistics reports for clients as PDFs or public web pages, and can send external tracking data to Google Analytics or Matomo.

Install and check placements

Install Ad Inserter Pro in WordPress, add advertising or other code to its blocks, and pick insertion positions. Review the preview, placement rules, labels, styles, targeting and exclusions before publishing. The extension inserts the code configured in its blocks, header and footer, so check the page source and displayed placements after saving. For cookie-based conditions on a cached site, client-side insertion may be needed to check cookies in the visitor's browser.

Pro also includes multisite options for limiting settings by site, individual post and page exceptions, settings export and import, and email support.
