Which WordPress functions can you disable?

Disable Everything PRO brings controls for WordPress functions, administration screens, and selected settings from other plugins into one options area. Choose a combination of controls, save your changes, and re-enable a capability later if your website needs it. Since the options affect different parts of a website, check whether each feature is used by your workflows before turning it off.

Free version controls

  • Administration: user enumeration, author archives, the capital_P_dangit correction, screen options and help, the Howdy message, admin-bar navigation items, and the Clean Dashboard.
  • Site features: emojis, embed objects, Dashicons, Heartbeat, XML-RPC and pingbacks, the generator tag, WLW manifest, Really Simple Discovery, short links, RSS feeds, REST API access, the Block Library, and application passwords.

Other listed controls

The extension also lists controls for Privacy Tools, the Site Health page, adjacent post links in the header, version query strings after styles and scripts, PDF thumbnails, the Plugin and Theme Editor, oEmbed, and remote block patterns. The Empty Trash option shortens the period to one week.

PRO controls

The PRO feature list includes disabling comments, WordPress updates, auto-update email notifications for themes and extensions, post revisions, search, the WordPress login logo and favicon, the administration email verification prompt, and lazy loading. It also lists controls for Yoast SEO and WooCommerce bloat, right-click, the admin footer, Elementor bloat, Jetpack promotions, Contact Form 7 bloat, the Autoptimize toolbar, and the W3 Total Cache HTML footer.

Set up and adjust the controls

  1. In WordPress, find Disable Everything through Plugins > Add New, or upload its ZIP file from that screen.
  2. Activate the extension, then open Settings > Disable Everything.
  3. In Options, check the features you do not intend to use, then scroll down and select Save Changes.

Review the affected site or administration area after saving. Return to the settings and clear an option to re-enable that feature if your needs change. Support options listed include the Dessky Team discussion community, a contact form, and premium support.
