How Does Comet Cache Pro Cache WordPress Pages?
Comet Cache Pro stores real-time snapshots of supported pages, posts, categories, links, archives, and feeds. When a request qualifies and a usable cache file exists, the extension can serve that copy instead of repeating database connections and PHP processing. The options panel controls cache behavior and expiration.
Reuse eligible WordPress content
Comet Cache Pro stores real-time snapshots of supported pages, posts, categories, links, archives, and feeds. When a request qualifies and a usable cache file exists, the extension can serve that copy instead of repeating database connections and PHP processing. The options panel controls cache behavior and expiration.
By default, cached pages are not served to logged-in users or recent commenters. Administrative and login pages, POST, PUT, DELETE, GET requests with query strings, and CLI processes are excluded. Pro can enable logged-in user caching, which may fit membership websites. Query-string options control whether URLs containing them are cached. URI, user-agent, and HTTP referrer exclusion patterns support wildcards.
Manage cache clearing and permissions
Automatic and intelligent clearing can cover posts, pages, custom post types, categories, tags, links, themes, users, and more. You can also clear a list of custom URLs, run custom PHP whenever the cache is cleared, and grant cache-clearing permission by user role or capability. Other controls include an admin-bar Clear Cache button, import and export for configuration documents, and a dynamic version salt. Dashboard notifications about automatic clearing can be disabled.
Review cache state and server load
Cache Statistics and charts report on the page cache, HTML Compressor cache, PHP OPCache, and server health. Server Load Monitoring uses a configured maximum load average to prevent cache regeneration while the server is very busy.
Configure delivery and integrations
Additional options include client-side caching, automatic cache expiration, caching for 404 requests, and RSS, RDF, and Atom feeds. Apache optimizations can configure web-server GZIP compression, browser caching, canonical URLs, and other server adjustments.
The HTML Compressor can combine and compress CSS, JavaScript, and HTML. The Auto-Cache Engine pre-caches the site at 15-minute intervals. Static CDN filters can serve selected or all static files through a chosen CDN, with support for multiple CDN host names, domain sharding, and multisite networks.
Mobile Mode creates multiple cache versions for adaptive designs. Multisite Host Exclusion Patterns can exclude selected child blogs. The extension also supports WP-CLI, ManageWP, InfiniteWP, and an advanced cache-plugin system for theme and plugin developers. An automatic updater can update Comet Cache Pro from the WordPress dashboard.
Install Comet Cache Pro
Comet Cache Pro is self-contained and does not require Comet Cache Lite. If Lite is installed, deactivate and delete it first. In WordPress, open Dashboard > Plugins > Add New, pick Upload Plugin, choose the Comet Cache Pro ZIP file, and install it. Activate the plugin, then go to Dashboard > Comet Cache > Plugin Options > Enable/Disable and enable caching. The listed requirements are PHP 5.4+ and Apache 2.1+.
