Terms, matching and placement

Group entries by category and create vertical archives with shortcodes for lists of terms and categories. Choose where glossary features run, such as selected pages, archives, taxonomies, or custom post types. Terms can link to internal or external locations, include synonyms, and show a highlight or an icon for external links. The free capability set includes four tooltip templates and widgets for glossary search, latest terms, and categories.

PRO includes controls for tooltip styling and mobile behavior, along with automatic footnotes. Matching options include case-sensitive terms and linking only the first occurrence of the same or any key term. You can also prevent links from appearing on a term’s own description page, add an alphabetical term list, and create a glossary index with the PRO shortcode or block.

Indexes and connected utilities

Customize glossary index blocks in Gutenberg, Elementor, Fusion Builder, Divi, Beaver Builder, and SiteOrigin. PRO also adds custom fields for key terms and integration with Advanced Custom Fields. Advanced shortcodes can parse content when using Visual Composer or another page builder.

Other glossary tools include CSV term imports and Schema.org DefinedTerm support. ChatGPT integration can generate term content and requires an OpenAI API key. The extension also lists integrations with Yoast SEO, Ninja Forms, Bricks Builder, Fixed TOC, Easy Table of Contents, YARPP, User Role Editor, WPML, and Polylang.

Set up a glossary

Install the plugin on the WordPress site where you want to use the glossary, then create terms and definitions. Configure matching, link behavior, tooltip presentation, and the content areas where glossary functions should be active. Add an index with the PRO shortcode or block, and use a supported visual editor to tailor it when needed.

The PRO version includes dedicated support. Documentation and a demo site are also available.
